This noise is way too loud
Covering my ears won't help
When every day is like nails on a chalkboard
I'm trying to sift through the empty sound
And I don't know
What I'm looking for
The clock's slight of hand stealing daylight
Is setting the pace
And I can't keep up
I can't keep up
Now here I am
In second place
Trust me, we're going down anyway
Just be a little more optimistic
You can try to change the weather
But the storm will still come crashing in
(Built to spill, rebuild again)
You can try and stop the sunset
You'll still find us
Knocking on your door
Just tell yourself you can take a little more
More than you thought before
Trust me, we're going down anyway
Just be a little more optimistic
And it's only a matter of time
Before you crawl out from the cracks
So keep your chin up
Because it's nothing to have the world on your back
I can't take more (not on my own)
This time you won't (you're not alone)
I can't take more (not on my own)
This time (you're not alone)
Trust me, we're going down anyway
Just be a little more optimistic

So it's finally up to me
To bring to light the things you never want to see
Say you're okay or at least you think
But your lies are bleeding deeper than this ballpoint ink
She's reading Socrates
While I wallow in the mire mediocrity
I know that everybody loves tragedy
I call em like I see
You brought this on yourself
Keep calling for help
Cause you're never gonna get it
'less you stand on your own two feet
And take a look at yourself
And revel in the fact that everyone you know
Is just another notch in your belt
Keep calling for help
You try to fit don't give a shit
If who you ride with ain't too legit
And everyone knows the taste of your spit
You'll do what it takes
Even give em a lick
Don't take yourself for granted
Your beauty was a short lived tyranny
You mean shit to me
When water drops from the faucet
In intervals of our last applause's
If no one claps for us
We'll clap for ourselves
If no one claps for us
We'll clap for ourselves
We'll clap for ourselves
She's reading Socrates
While I wallow in the mire mediocrity
I know that everybody loves tragedy
I call em like I see
You brought this on yourself
Keep calling for help
Cause you're never gonna get it
'less you stand on your own two feet
And take a look at yourself
And revel in the fact that everyone you know
Is just another notch in your belt
When water drops from the faucet
In intervals of our last applause's
If no one claps for us
We'll clap for ourselves
We'll clap for ourselves

My shoebox is a time capsule holding memoirs of a broken soul that you stole. Am I the only one that's sentimental?
Cause I hate how things came to an end just keep in mind that I never want to see you again.
Your tongue sits back inside your mouth bit hard by the teeth of your own doubt. It's getting clearer you're not better than this.
We're both at wits end. Now it's time to find out if we break or bend. Cause you and I both know that this would never last. The only thing we have in common is our past. And I swear I'm never going back.
So keep a steady hand and your shot in focus. If a pictures worth a thousand words then I want you to know this. That we could write a novel in our elevator pitches. But I doused myself in kerosene and burned both our bridges.
BURNED BOTH OUR BRIDGES.
We're both at wits end. Now it's time to find out if we break or bend. Cause you and I both know that this would never last. The only thing we have in common is our past. And I swear I'm never going back.
If I could rise to the occasion, this is just cause for evacuation (x2)
My shoebox is a time capsule holding memoirs of a broken soul that you stole, that you stoleeeeeeeeeee.
We're both at wits end. Now it's time to find out if we break or bend. Cause you and I both know that this would never last. The only thing we have in common is our past. And I swear I'm never going back.

Welcome to your roaring twenties
Forget about your mistakes
Cause you don't wanna wake up
And hate the person you became
Chasing damsels in distress
Breaking promises
You can't keep a secret
If I already know it
So tell me what will I see
If I hold you up to the flame
From all the bridges you've burned
Let's light up the skies and see
It's hard to achieve our dreams
From when we were young
We're getting older
But we won't lose momentum
So much for nostalgia
Cause you can't see the world with your head in the clouds
Put your feet on the ground
Stop lying to yourself, you love this town
So much for romantics
It's hard to stay attached
You said I burned all your assets
But you're the one that holds the match
Cause you can't see the world with your head in the clouds
It's hard to achieve our dreams
From when we were young
We're getting older
But we won't lose momentum
This is where I draw the line
Between the person that I wanna be
And the people that I leave behind
This is where I draw the line
It's hard to achieve our dreams
From when we were young
We're getting older
But we won't lose momentum
We won't let up
